Washington, D.C., April 16, 2008—On his 81st birthday, Pope Benedict XVI waves to crowds across from the White House from a "popemobile."

The pontiff led a Mass on Wednesday at Washington, D.C.'s new baseball stadium, calling for reconciliation with victims of sexual abuse by clergy. Friday he addressed the UN in New York and pleaded for increased attention to human rights.

He will conclude his first papal visit to the U.S. with a Mass at Yankee Stadium, often called baseball's great cathedral.
