Near Neuhausen, Switzerland, April 19, 2008Blue lights illuminate the Rhine Falls, Europe's biggest waterfall.

The new colored lights were added to "improve the public image" of the falls, which had previously been illuminated by two white floodlights.

Formed during the Ice Age, the falls, with a height of 75 feet (23 meters), are modest in comparison with more iconic drops like Niagara's Horseshoe Falls on the U.S.-Canada border. Horseshoe Falls is more than twice as high and passes roughly eight times as much water each second.
