Los Angeles, California, April 30, 2008—Firefighters battle a blaze at the famous street corner of Hollywood and Vine.

A hundred and eighty firefighters spent three hours battling the inferno, which gutted a well-known restaurant and nightclub called Basque.

Many buildings at the intersection date back to the 1930s and require "extra care," Councilman Eric Garcetti told the Associated Press.
