Brooklyn, New York, May 22, 2008—A fireworks display caps an evening of celebrations honoring the 125th anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Opened on May 24, 1883, after more than 13 years of construction, the iconic structure is one of the oldest suspension bridges still in service in the U.S. and spans the East River between New York's Manhattan and Brooklyn boroughs.
