Sydney Harbor, Australia, July 17, 2008—Pope Benedict XVI waves from his "popemobile" near Australia's Sydney Harbor following an address at the World Youth Day celebration.

The pope's speech, delivered before an estimated 140,000 people in Sydney's Barangaroo Precinct, denounced environmental degradation, alcohol and drug abuse, and violence and sex on television and the Internet. He was expected to address charges of sexual abuse by Catholic clergy members at some point during his visit to the country.
