Ten years later, the Russian financial crisis is a distant memory for many young people in Moscow.

In 1998, the government defaulted on its domestic debt and devalued its currency. Russia's economic recovery has been surprisingly speedy as rising energy prices have increased export revenues for this oil-rich country.
