Features on the Saturn moon Enceladus are named for characters and places from the classic literary work Arabian Nights.

The four most prominent sulci—or fissures—are named Alexandria, Cairo, Baghdad, and Damascus.

The Baghdad sulcus (above) runs across the top mosaic tile, from lower left to upper right. The Cairo sulcus runs from left to right just beneath the center tile.

Scientists are using the new images to study geologic activity associated with the sulci.

The information could also help confirm reservoirs of liquid water beneath the surface.
