Near Melkbosstrand, South Africa, August 1, 2008—Rough, wintry seas and high winds drove two fishing trawlers aground on July 31 near Melkbosstrand beach north of Cape Town, South Africa.

Local media reported that both boats ran ashore after the Seawin Sapphire (foreground) came to the aid of Weskus 1 (background), which was adrift with a damaged propeller.

Local police and sea-rescue personnel helped the vessels' 19 crew members to safety. No one was injured, though several sailors suffered mild hypothermia.
