Beijing, China, August 10, 2008—American swimmer Michael Phelps slices through the water during the men's 400-meter individual medley final at the National Aquatics Center—nicknamed the Water Cube—in Beijing.

Phelps won the race in decisive fashion, finishing in a world record-setting time of 4:03:84.

So far, this Olympics has been enormously successful for Michael Phelps—his fifth gold medal in Beijing marks his 11th career gold.
