Mainz, Germany, August 9, 2008—Decorated as an octopus, a model works the catwalk at the Fifth International Bodypainting Festival.

Models endured up to 14-hour painting sessions, as artists from around the world used airbrushes, sponges, and traditional painting techniques to create their masterpieces.

This year's theme of discovery inspired a host of colors and scenes that included rose gardens, shipwrecks, butterflies, and cartoons.
