Photo: Bat Bonanza: 100+ Species Found in 5 Acres of Jungle



More than a hundred species of bats—including the vampire bat (above, in Costa Rica)—were recently discovered in a small plot of rain forest in eastern Ecuador.

The finding marks the highest number of bat species ever recorded in one place, researchers report in a July 2008 study.
