Photo: Moon Water Found, Raises Questions About Origin Theory



Water found in moon matter—such as the pictured glass particles collected from the moon landing site of the 1971 Apollo 15 mission—counters long-standing scientific consensus that Earth's satellite is bone dry, scientists announced on July 9, 2008.

These samples represent volcanic deposits formed early in the Moon's geologic history.
